Vision

Gygaia Projects is a group of activities concerned with scientific research and preservation in the areas of cultural and natural histories. We aim to build collaborative partnerships to pursue and promote the active production of knowledge through rigorous research that leverages the latest technological developments. Project activities focus on the basin surrounding Lake Marmara and the middle Gediz River valley, in the districts of Gölmarmara, Saruhanlı, Salihli, and Ahmetli (Manisa, western Turkey). Our international team includes researchers and students from a variety of institutions and universities located in Turkey and around the world. Our primary institutional affiliation and supporter is Koç University in Istanbul, Turkey.

Our vision to conduct and foster scientific research on the cultural and natural histories of the Marmara Lake basin is led by the energy and ideas of a broad team that is always looking to find and inspire new collaborations, whether local, regional, or international. We embrace initiatives that thrive on interdisciplinary interactions to build specific areas of expertise and form collective research groups. We aim to publish and share completed datasets as well as collaborate with ongoing projects as synergies emerge.
